The Young Turks

I discovered a very interesting site "The Young Turks" by getting a chance to listen the founder of the site Cenk Uygur at a conference last week.

Yes, the founder Cenk is originally Turkish, however he is living in US for more than 30 years and has a very diverse background. Even though Cenk was born in Istanbul, he and his family immigrated to the United States in the late 70's, when he was eight years old. After graduation Business and Law he decided to start his career as a radio host. After many years of hard work, he managed to make his project "The Young Turks (TYT)" the largest online news show in the world.

Then, let's start with the definition of Young Turk, other than its literal meaning:

Young Turk (n), 1. Young progressive or insurgent member of an institution, movement, or political party. 2. Young person who rebels against authority or societal expectations. (American Heritage Dictionary)

This is what they define themselves and use YouTube for their hosting platform for the online shows and programmes. Except the regular TYT Show, Cenk has appeared on television on numerous occasions on MSNBC, CNN Headline News, E! Entertainment Television, Aljazeera, ABC News, Voice of America, NPR and the Fox News Channel.

And On October 21, 2010 MSNBC announced that Uygur had been officially hired as a contributor and substitute anchor for the network. Previously, Uygur had periodically guest hosted and appeared on numerous MSNBC programs.

I found them very successful and funny. If you would like to get more of The Young Turks, please watch the below self promotion video. I am sure we all be hearing from them more soon...
Cheers.
