Two design challenges

I would like to share two entrepreneurship and innovative design challenges in 2009:

The first one is Electrolux Design Lab. First watch the webcast of Electrolux Design Lab 2009 finalists. The concept was "next 90 years" for the celebration of Electrolux's 90th year anniversary. All 8 ideas are extremely orginal.

The winner is "fish and maker cacoon"
My favourite was Naturewash though. The concept of 2010 will be “the 2nd space age”.

The second one is Intel + Berkeley Technology Entrepreneurship Challenge 2009. There are 27 teams and ideas competing. Another loser (!) is from Sabanci University, Turkey. The project is called; ProtCare.

ProtCare is a medical diagnosis diaper targeting infants aged 0-24 months. ProtCare initially diagnoses urinary tract infections by nitrite testing. ProtCare aims to solve the complications of sample collecting in infants. With a 5min surfing on internet, it's easy to witness the distress of parents that are at loss on how to collect urine from their baby girls. By implanting nitrite tests within the baby diapers, the test will be performed as the baby urinates and the result will be displayed instantly on the diaper with a color change.
